A junior football team will be wearing the RoadPeace logo on their shirts for the 2019/20 football season.

The L4 Junior Football Club (JFC) under-15s team have been sponsored by RoadPeace legal panel member Birchall Blackburn Law.

The solicitors have been supporting RoadPeace’s Kick Start Safe Roads campaign to combine football and the vital message of road safety.

Department for Transport statistics released last month show that there were 1,782 road deaths on Britain’s roads in 2018 and an estimated 27,811 seriously injured.

L4 JFC is an inner-city grassroots club based in Liverpool and was formed in 2014.

The under-15s team will be playing in the Tuebrook junior football league and the team won the Committee Cup in the Walton and Kirkdale junior football league 2018/19 season.

The under-15s team have also become the link team for the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) Foundation’s Premier League Kicks project, with L4 JFC players joining the programme.

Premier League Kicks is one of the Premier League’s flagship community programmes to engage young people in the most high-need areas in football, sport and personal development.

L4 JFC under-15s manager and LFC Foundation project lead Tony Cosgrove said: “We are extremely proud to have the RoadPeace logo on our new shirts for the 2019-20 season.

“We would like to express our gratitude to Birchall Blackburn Law and RoadPeace for sponsoring our under-15s and we will wear these shirts with pride.”

RoadPeace North West branch coordinator and trustee Pauline Fielding said: “I am delighted that Birchall Blackburn Law are sponsoring these football kits and that they will help spread the RoadPeace name at all their games this season.

“It is important that RoadPeace becomes known for its support of road crash victims and for its work to reduce dangers on our roads which will help prevent further death and injury.”
