The RoadPeace Challenge is now included in the National Roads Partnership Operations Calendar 2024 – 2025 – confirming its position as one of the UK’s leading annual road casualty reduction campaigns.
The event, which takes place on May 13-19, 2024, now features on the annual planner, which is jointly produced by the National Police Chiefs’ Council, NRPOII, National Fire Chiefs’ Council and National Highways.
It is the go-to operations and communications calendar for police forces, safer roads partnerships, fire and rescue services and local authorities across the country.
Now in its fourth year, the RoadPeace Challenge is an annual awareness-raising and fundraising event, organised by RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims. Its mission is to bring together the emergency services, road crash victims, bereaved families and communities – to make a united stand against road death and injury.
So far, the event has raised £140,000 for RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, as well as considerable public awareness around road harm.
The concept of the RoadPeace Challenge 2024:
• Supporters will collectively walk, run, cycle or horse ride 1,766 miles during the week of action (May 13-19, 2024) to honour the 1,766 people reported killed on UK roads in 2022
• We will count down from 1,766 to zero – to reflect our Vision Zero efforts
• Anybody can take part – no distance is too short
• Supporters can take part alone or as part of a team
Emergency services and other supporters can sign up to take part here.

Nick Simmons, CEO of RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, said: “The National Roads Partnership Operations Calendar is so important and helps the police, fire service and highway authorities across the UK to enforce the law and educate road users effectively and consistently.
“We are very grateful that RoadPeace-led events, particularly the RoadPeace Challenge, now feature on this calendar, recognising how successful and prominent the campaign has become.
“We are encouraging as many people as possible to take part this year to make a united stand against road death and injury and to applaud the efforts of all the emergency services, who respond to road crashes day in, day out.”
