RoadPeace calls for Healthy Streets and Healthy Justice for London
RoadPeace, the national charity supporting road crash victims launches its London Healthy Streets Healthy Justice Campaign. Funded by Trust for London, the campaign calls for more effective traffic law enforcement, quality assurance in collision investigation, and better treatment of victims of road traffic crime.
Amy Aeron- Thomas, Advocacy and Justice Manager at RoadPeace says, ‘Our campaign supports the aims of the Mayor’s Healthy Streets agenda with police key to its success. We have been successful in getting road traffic crime included in the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan. But the police are under much pressure from cuts and competing demands from other higher profile crimes. Our project aims to ensure that senior police and policy makers do not forget the needs of road crash victims and vulnerable road users, and they treat road traffic crime as real crime.
At the heart of this campaign is the voice of those people who have been injured and families of those who have been bereaved by crashes on London roads. The creation of a new network of Healthy Streets Healthy Justice advocates will aim to ensure that the victims voice loud and clear.
If you would like a safer, healthy and fairer transport system in London, you can help make it happen. Get involved now by using the email at the bottom of this page putting Healthy Streets in the subject line.
