Our friends at the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety have launched the People’s Declaration. Every 24 seconds — about the time it takes to read and sign the People’s Declaration — another person will die because of a road crash. We know what needs to be done to save more lives and we must show our leaders that their citizens value and demand life.
The People’s Declaration demands that government leaders around the world COMMIT to putting people first and ACT to save lives on roads worldwide with:
•STRONG, ENFORCED LAWS that put people before vehicles
•SPEED and ALCOHOL LIMITS that save more lives
•MANDATORY CAR SEATBELTS/RESTRAINTS and QUALITY MOTORCYCLE HELMETS
•STRONG MOBILE PHONE RESTRICTIONS that help drivers focus
•SAFE ROADS and CARS that minimize human error
•ACCESS to FAST EMERGENCY and follow-up CAR
Please show your support and sign the declaration and ask your friends and family to sign it too. You can also add the QR code to your phone so that they can click straight to it (download the QR code here).
The Declaration of thousands of signatures from people around the world will be brought to the attention of world leaders at the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Sweden in February 2020.
