Our Victims’ Voice campaign needs those who want to share their experience of being affected by road crashes. By signing up to say you’d like to support our activities, such as being trained in leading campaigns in your neighbourhood, you’ll be doing your bit to fight for a future with no road deaths in London.
From activities such as watching webinars to grow your skillset or meeting with Councillors, you’ll be learning how to hold power to account at a local level to ensure your representatives are sticking to their Vision Zero pledge, taking danger on our streets as seriously as they should.
This campaign is going to be integral to achieving zero road deaths. Without RoadPeace members bolstering the debate, the argument for road danger reduction loses its most important advocate. Our voice must be strong and unified, refusing to be shouted over by those who argue for a more car-dominated future at the cost of even more deaths and injury on our roads.
Working toward Vision Zero benefits all of us. Better transport links, cleaner air and greater use of active travel will positively impact the lives of Londoners now and for generations to come. By coming together, we know we can make this happen.
The Westminster Hall meeting a few weeks ago is a shining example of what happens when we share our experiences; we dominate the debate. We all speak for those who are victims of road collisions, and the those in power have realised it too. Just imagine what we could accomplish if hundreds of us came together – we’d be impossible to ignore.
Here’s coverage of that meeting:
RoadPeace member Sarah Hope was also mentioned during the debate. Her and her family’s lives were changed the day they were hit by a London bus, and ever since then she has been a vociferous voice for change. She followed this coverage up with an article in The Telegraph (Behind Paywall) and an interview on GB News, and has also launched a petition calling for a road crash victims’ commissioner – which you can add your name to here.
This is just a taste of what we can achieve, so if you want to be a part of our efforts to ensure Vision Zero is achieved, please get in touch with Myles, myles.cummins@roadpeace.org.
