This month, we are celebrating Clare Rice and her amazing work organising Paige’s Day. Paige, Clare’s daughter, was tragically killed in a crash in October 2021. Since then, Clare has held two ‘Paige’s Day’ fundraisers to honour and remember Paige’s life, with the most recent event taking place on the 30th July.
.
This year, an afternoon tea was organised in the garden, with Clare explaining “This is where we all feel most connected to Paige. We have a beautiful memory garden full of flowers, photos and butterflies, as well as a bench where we can sit and remember.”
After the afternoon tea, there were various fundraising activities, including a raffle, a cake sale and some fête style games such as ‘Guess the name of the elephant’ and ‘How many sweets in the jar’. Despite a very rainy day, Paige’s friends and family came together to show their love and support, and were able to raise an impressive £1,669.78, to be split between RoadPeace and Women’s Aid. We are incredibly grateful to Clare for choosing to support RoadPeace with the funds raised, and for all of her hard work in organising this special event.
Clare also created a memorial for all of Paige’s loved ones to add to. “I like to think of different ways to remember Paige where each of us can be involved, so this year I had made a love lock fence in our garden where we were able to attach love locks with pictures/messages engraved, it looks so pretty. I also gave everyone a pen to write a memory on hearts that were hanging all through the gazebos, I will now get these all laminated to keep in Paige’s memory box.”

This year’s Paige’s Day was a beautiful event, showcasing the huge amount of love felt for Paige within the local community, and how much she means to so many.
