This month, we are celebrating Stephen Over. Stephen’s brother-in-law, Robert Bown, was tragically hit and killed whilst crossing the road in Stoke-On-Trent in December 2023.
Robert Bown
Stephen ran the London Marathon on Sunday 24th April 2024 in honour of Robert and has so far raised an incredible £3,430 for RoadPeace. Show your support for Stephen and help him hit his £3,500 target by donating here.
Stephen Over
Stephen said “I had not run a marathon previously and with only 8 weeks to prepare myself it was a daunting task. Knowing that I was running in Robert’s memory was a huge source of inspiration throughout my training and helped push my legs through the extra miles that I didn’t think I had in them”
“The atmosphere on the day was fantastic, with so many people and charities coming out to support those running. It was a bitter-sweet experience for me; I was enjoying the occasion immensely, but my thoughts were never far from Robert and how much we all miss him.”
“Even in this short period since Robert was taken from us, it is clear that significant changes are needed to the justice system regarding road crime. RoadPeace have been a huge help to our family during this incredibly difficult time and I am glad I have been able to give something back to them through the donations I received from running the London Marathon.
Robert was a popular, generous, and well-loved man who did so much for his local community; it feels good to have been able to honour him in away that he would have approved of!”
We are hugely grateful to Stephen for choosing to support RoadPeace in this way. The money raised will help us to deliver vital support to those affected by road violence, and campaign for safer streets for all.
