On Saturday the 9th of August, the RoadPeace community came together at the National Memorial Arboretum for a Ceremony of Remembrance — a time to honour lives affected and lost on our roads and to be alongside those forever changed by their absence.
For some, it was the first time joining this ceremony. For others, it was a return to a place and a community that understands the depth of their grief.
Together, we reflected on the lives we miss, the lives changed, and found strength in shared compassion, and renewed our commitment to safer roads and lasting remembrance.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in the service. To Helen and Mark Saltern, Vashti Styles, Amanda Cooper, Kate Uzzell, Kate Theedom, and Councillor Monica Stringfellow for sharing such personal and powerful words; to The Choir for their moving performances of Everglow, Visiting Hours, and We Light a Flame; and to those who lit candles in remembrance, each flame representing a life, a family, and a story.
Our gratitude also goes to representatives from the police, ambulance, and fire services who read aloud the names of those being remembered — and to all who work tirelessly to keep our roads and communities safe.
Special thanks to Rector Jeremy Allcock for guiding the service with compassion, to the National Memorial Arboretum for hosting us, and to the RoadPeace staff and volunteers whose dedication made the day possible.
To every person who joined us, whether in person or in thought, thank you. Your presence reminds us that no one walks this journey alone. Though we came together in sadness, we left with a renewed sense of unity bound by love, remembrance, and the determination to prevent future loss.
