The Chayse West Legacy is a charity organisation that is dedicated to supporting families like ours.
Devastatingly our beautiful, cheeky, full of life 18 year old son, Chayse was killed in a hit and run in September 2022. He was walking home from a night out, had been clearly seen by other witnesses but the driver failed to see him and continued about his day as if our son were Road kill. Chayse was found and rushed to hospital, where we spent the following two days, praying for a miracle, by his bedside. Chayse was pronounced brain stem dead caused by a catastrophic brain injury. We quickly began to realise there is minimal financial support once your child reaches 18, they are still our babies after all.
Researching, we have come to realise there is minimal financial support for grieving parents full stop. This is where The Chayse West Legacy was born. Our mission is to support grieving parents going through this nightmare that has been thrust upon them. From funeral expenses, to financial support and anything in between. Not all families our lucky enough to have the support that we had, without whom, we would have been plunged into debt to pay for Chayse’s funeral and had the added worry of where the next pay check was coming from (my husband and I were both self-employed at the time). They enabled us in the aftermath to focus on grieving, being with our other two boys and just trying to get through the following days, minutes, seconds……
