Unfortunately, the 10th Team Townend Challenge which was planned for this weekend has been postponed until 24th April 2021.
However, in the spirit of lockdown, the organisers are asking that riders still join the event (virtually) on the 9th of May!
The Team Townend Challenge short route is 22 miles and they are asking people to ride 22 miles (or more!) on Saturday the 9th , share on social media and make a donation to RoadPeace.
Simon, one of the organisers says: ‘By sharing your pictures, routes and stories on the TTC facebook page you will help keep us all in the TTC spirit and remember Christian and Niggy. You can also help raise money for RoadPeace by donating or setting up a Virgin Money Giving sponsorship page for your ride here.’
‘It goes without saying your ride should be safe, within government guidelines, and could be outside or inside on a trainer. For some of the TTC team this will be a bit harder than others…. Andy is in France where he is only allowed to be outside for 1 hour per day and no further than 1km from his house at any time. Consequently, he will be attempting to cycle 22 miles very fast in tight circles or is going to construct his own turbo trainer using whatever he can buy at the supermarket. Harry got stuck in Spain on his ride across Europe so may well be riding off-road laps around the vegetable garden he’s working on. We’re especially looking forward to their updates!’
They have also organised an online TTC themed quiz at 8pm on Saturday 9th May. There will also be an update from Harry on his ride across Europe to date, and maybe how many laps of the garden he did to make 22 miles!
To join the quiz please make a £5 donation to RoadPeace here and then email teamtownendchallenge@gmail.com so you can be sent the link to login at 8pm. There will be prizes!
Thanks so much to everyone at Team Townend Challenge for your support.
