RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, has published its new Strategy for 2024-2027, outlining a bold vision for the future.
The strategy aims to create a world where road danger is unacceptable and crash victims receive justice and compassion.
The strategy focuses on five key areas:
- Services: RoadPeace aims to widen the accessibility and reach of its services across the UK, ensuring consistent support for all victims of road crashes
- Quality and Impact of Services: The organisation will continue to enhance the quality and impact of its services through improved information, training and resources
- Membership and Community: RoadPeace plans to strengthen its membership base, empowering road crash victims to support themselves and one another
- Campaigning, Communication and Collaboration: RoadPeace will amplify the voice of road crash victims, ensuring their experiences are heard by policymakers, the media and the public
- Organisational Effectiveness and Culture: The charity commits to upholding the highest standards of organisational effectiveness, using values-based decision-making and supporting its staff and volunteers to ensure a positive working environment
At the heart of RoadPeace’s strategy are the values that guide its work:
Victim-centred: RoadPeace puts victims at the heart of everything it does, involving members and victims in service delivery, campaigning, and decision-making.
Compassionate: The organisation treats everyone with compassion and sensitivity, tailoring support to their unique experiences and needs, and monitoring the wellbeing of staff and volunteers
Collaborative: RoadPeace works in partnership with and supports other organisations, recognising that more can be achieved together. The charity freely shares its knowledge and best practices
Evidence-based: The organisation’s work is grounded in published research and national statistics, informed by the experiences of victims, members, partner organisations, campaigners, and emergency services
Pioneering: RoadPeace aims to inform and inspire, being courageous and willing to speak out on more radical or less popular agendas when needed.
Nick Simmons, CEO of RoadPeace, highlighted the importance of the new strategy: “Our 2024-2027 strategy is a comprehensive roadmap for making our roads safer and ensuring that victims of road crashes receive the justice and support they deserve. We are committed to widening our reach, improving our services, and amplifying the voices of those affected by road crashes. Together, we can create a world where road danger is unacceptable.
“Thank you to our dedicated Board of Trustees who worked so hard to produce this bold and clear three-year strategy, with support from the RoadPeace team.”
Speaking on behalf of the RoadPeace Trustees, Chair Petra Kendall-Raynor said: “We are so pleased to be able to launch a new RoadPeace strategy.
“It sets out our vision for the future, where road crash victims are treated with compassion, informed, empowered and receive justice.
“We can all work towards reducing road danger and we look forward to working collaboratively to make our vision a reality.”
