Our Befriender Scheme offers invaluable support to victims of road crashes and gives them an opportunity to link up with others who can truly empathise. It is powered by great good will and devastating experience. Befrienders are victims (bereaved, injured or witnesses) whose crash occurred at least 18 months previously, who offer ongoing heartfelt telephone support to other victims of road crashes, drawing on their own personal experiences. Time and time again we hear professionals or friends and family do not fully ‘understand’ and there is a desperate need to talk or be put in touch with someone who does. Our amazing befrienders make this happen.
This support from like-minded people, who all share a common, yet tragic connection, makes you feel less alone on your grief journey – Bereaved Mother
We are now looking to recruit more befrienders to reach out to more victims and provide the help, support and experience that these individuals need so much. For more information, questions or if you would like to sign up to become a befriender, please contact Vicky Mitchinson on 020 7733 1603 or email Victoria.Mitchinson@roadpeace.org
I wanted to become a befriender so that I can help others who have been in a similar situation to me. To offer advice, positive attitude, motivation, and just someone to chat to. To allow someone to recover in the best way they can, and to even surpass expectation! – Befriender
