This week the Royal College of Nursing Congress has been taking place in Liverpool with RoadPeace attending as an exhibitor. This was an opportunity for us to meet as many nurses as possible across all sectors in one location. We wanted to raise awareness of the range of support and services that we provide and strengthen our relationship with this vital profession.

Over the four days of the event, we spoke with literally hundreds of nurses across a wide range of specialisms.

Whilst not nearly enough had already heard about RoadPeace, the conversations were positive with lots of suggestions as to how we might work more closely together in future to support patients and victims.

So many people that we talked with had themselves been affected by a road collision, either personally or through the experience of friends, family members or patients and were very much aware of the lack of services that existed to help provide more support when it was most needed.

Increasingly, joined up working between the NHS and charity sector is helping to deliver a range of  really important services, the whole aspect of providing support to anyone bereaved or with life changing injuries from a road collision was seen as being hugely relevant helpful to both nurses and patients.

It was such an enjoyable and successful start to, hopefully, a much closer collaboration between RoadPeace, the Royal College of Nursing and the NHS in the future. Many thanks to all our members in the North West who helped us set up and run the stand and of course Trustee, Pauline Fielding who led the team. We will obviously now be working hard to follow up on the conversations and contacts that we made to ensure that we grow and strengthen this relationship even more in the future.
