RoadPeace showcased its work at this year’s Southport Flower Show, engaging thousands of visitors at one of the region’s largest public events.
Led by North West facilitator Merlyn Kendell, RoadPeace volunteers staffed the stand across the four-day show, which welcomed around 50,000 visitors. The team provided information about the charity’s support services, shared leaflets, and directed several enquiries to the RoadPeace Helpline, ensuring vital resources reached those who may need them most.
The stand attracted significant interest, with many visitors expressing a desire to get involved. Several pledged fundraising support, while the Institute of Advanced Motorists extended an invitation for RoadPeace to deliver a talk to its members.
Merlyn Kendell praised the contribution of the volunteers; Shelagh Bright, May Hamilton, Sue Tootill, Terry Cunningham, and Sandra Thurm, whose dedication and warmth ensured the charity made a strong impact at the show.
The Southport Flower Show gave us a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and connect directly with the public,” Merlyn said. “We are grateful to our volunteers for helping us spread the word about RoadPeace and the support we can offer.
RoadPeace extends thanks to everyone who visited the stand and to the volunteers who made the event possible. Outreach activities such as this are vital in raising awareness, building partnerships, and reaching those affected by road crashes.
