Each year, Clare Rice, along with her son Tyler, organises Paige’s Day in loving memory of her daughter, Paige, who was tragically killed on October 17, 2021. Paige was just 22-years-old when she was killed in a car being driven recklessly.
Through these heartfelt events, held every July, Clare has turned her grief into a powerful force for good, raising awareness about road harm and supporting vital causes close to her heart.
2024: An Inflatable 5K for Paige
This year marked the third annual Paige’s Day, with Clare, Tyler, and 50 of their family and friends coming together to participate in an inflatable 5k run. This fun yet meaningful event, served as a tribute to Paige’s memory, filled with laughter, love and reflection.
Clare said: “I would like to thank all who took part in the 5k and who put so much work into getting sponsors. Paige was very lucky to have such an amazing bunch of friends. After organising an event there comes a big low. It’s the realisation of the reason behind the day. I will always do my best to keep Paige’s memory alive.”
We are so thankful to Clare and Tyler for their incredible awareness-raising and fundraising efforts. They raised an incredible £4,398.53 in 2024!
2023: Afternoon Tea and a Memory Garden
In 2023, Paige’s Day was celebrated with an afternoon tea event, held in Clare’s garden – a place where family and friends feel closest to Paige. Surrounded by flowers, photos, butterflies and a special bench dedicated to her, Clare created a beautiful memory garden that serves as a sanctuary of remembrance.
The event featured a raffle, a cake sale and fun fête-style games, bringing the community together in a spirit of love and connection. Clare also introduced a love lock fence, where attendees attached engraved love locks in honour of Paige, and memory hearts were hung throughout the gazebos, with personal messages that will be kept in Paige’s memory box.
Despite the rainy weather, spirits remained high and the day raised £1,669.78 to be shared between RoadPeace and Women’s Aid.
2022: A Heartfelt Fundraiser
The first Paige’s Day in 2022 raised over £4,500 for RoadPeace and Women’s Aid. Clare and Tyler brought together family, friends and the wider community to remember Paige in a meaningful way, ensuring that her memory continues to shine brightly.
Reflecting on the event, Clare said: “We are so grateful for all your support the last couple of years. Everything we do we do for our Paigey. I love you always, Paige, wherever you are. I’m forever heartbroken.”
Clare Rice’s incredible efforts to honour her daughter, Paige, go beyond fundraising – they are acts of love, remembrance and advocacy. Each Paige’s Day not only celebrates Paige’s life but also raises crucial awareness about road danger reduction, reminding us all of the importance of driving safely and respecting the lives of others on the road.
We are incredibly grateful to Clare and Tyler for their continued support for RoadPeace. Their commitment to honouring Paige’s memory, raising awareness and fundraising is truly inspiring.
