As a charity RoadPeace relies on the amazing efforts of so many people who raise money to fund our vital services, often in memory of precious loved ones. Each month we will be highlighting someone amazing doing something amazing for RoadPeace.

This month we want to tell you about Peter Haycock who organised a Coast to Coast cycle ride with 20 family and friends in memory of his brother Tom. They raised an an incredible £13,000 for RoadPeace.

In Peter’s words:

‘Tom was tragically killed in a road crash in Italy on 21 April 2018 aged just 29. Losing Tom has had a massive impact on all of his family and friends and we continue to miss him every day. We wanted to celebrate his memory and pay tribute to the kind, generous and adventurous person that he was and completing a 136 mile coast-to-coast cycle ride seemed like a good place to start!

The coast-to-coast challenge was bravely taken on by 20 of Tom’s family (including all his siblings!) and friends. The thought of Tom willing us along to the finish line made the toughest climbs more bearable as we know that Tom would have loved to have joined us on this adventure.

We chose RoadPeace to remember Tom both to help other bereaved families affected by road crashes but also to say thank you for the emotional support that Road Peace has shown me personally in the aftermath of Tom’s death.’
