Get involved » Fundraise
Many people organise events to raise money for RoadPeace. Each year about 25% of funds are raised in this way…and we need this to continue.
People often organise events in memory of, or to show support for, someone close to them that has been killed or injured in a road crash. Friends, families and communities find that fundraising activities give them an opportunity to get involved and show their support.
There are many different kinds of events that can raise money and it’s good to think of something that you enjoy doing or something that has particular meaning. Be as creative and inventive as you can and you will be encouraged, perhaps even surprised, how other people will get involved and support you.
To give you a few ideas here are some of the fundraising events that people have organised recently.
- Annual football match organised by local police force
- 100 mile winter challenge cycle ride
- Open garden event
- Company charity day
- Musical concerts, poetry readings
- Coffee morning, raffle, quiz, auction, dance
- Car boot sale
- Sponsored runs, walks, cycle rides
If you are thinking about organising a raffle, please read these guidelines carefully, to check whether you need to apply for licence under Lottery and Gambling Commission regulations. More detailed information can be found on www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk
Children’s events involve all members of the family. They can be educational, as well as fun.
- Road safety awareness day or road safety video
- Sponsored day
- Tea-party
- Concert or play
Matchfunding
Many employers are keen to support their staff’s charitable events with matchfunding. They will add to (often match) the amount of money that you raise. Don’t forget to ask.
